Over the past years due to lack of funds I have been stuck with a Windows 7 Operating system in a crappy laptop and the experience has been great with regards to taking screenshots. As growth came and there was a need for a change of Operating system due to the unending demands of new programming languages. I had to switch to the latest version of Windows on a new laptop😊😊😊.

The following are some of the methods I took in taking snapshots of windows screens, especially on Windows 11.

  1. Using the [windows] key together with the [shift] key and the letter "S". I literally mean [windows] + [shift] + [s]. The advantage of this is that you are rewarded with the opportunity of saving the image in your desired folder and not the clipboard.

  2. An alternative way to do the above if you don't understand my shortcuts is by using the snipping tool directly. This is implemented by:

  • Go to the Start menu and type "snipping tool" in the search bar, and open the app.

  • click the new button to get access to the screenshot overlay

  1. Pressing and holding the PrtSc. This literally captures your entire windows screen and saves it to your clipboard.

  2. Using the Xbox game bar to take screenshots. You can use this method by using the hotkey: [windows] + [G] and then navigate to the capture area which is located at the top-left corner and click the Take screenshot option.

  3. Making use of third-party apps. The app I recommend is the Bandicam App. It is not only lightweight but it allows you to take screen records and screenshots of Windows screens in custom sizes.

  4. Take a screenshot of the entire screen and save it directly to the .\pictures/screenshots directory: [Windows] key + [Print] key.

I basically make use of the first option as it is easy to use.
